AB24 is a newly formed ensemble performing music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries on period instruments. The postcode name reflects the links its members have with Aberdeen. AB24 offers a wealth of varied instrumental combinations, which are reflected in the audio extracts.
Amanda Babington is a violinist and recorder player who plays regularly with period-instrument ensembles such as LesTalens Lyrique, the Wallfisch Band, Dunedin Consort, Ex Cathedra, the Gabrieli Consort and Players and Fiori Musicali. As a baroque cellist Claire Babington has combined solo performance with playing continuo for a wide range of vocal and instrumental repertoire. In demand as a continuo cellist, she has worked on operas by Handel, Monteverdi Purcell and Rameau, as well as regular performances of Bach’s Passions and Handel’s Messiah.
